It has been my experience through many years of being an athlete, coaching athletes and studying proper warm up techniques that trying to STATIC stretch prior to warming up is not an optimal strategy. Just think about it logically. You are coming off the street cold and perhaps your an older athlete and you think you are going to miraculously stretch your muscles in your 30 second stretching routine?
